The kick – off meeting and the learning activity of the competitive European project entitled “Employer Programme for Hospitality and Tourism” were organized by the Higher Hotel Institute Cyprus with great success.
The project was one of the two projects approved for Higher Education under the Basic Action 2 (Partnerships for Innovation and Good Practice Exchange) of the Erasmus + Program. The project has a two year duration (September 2016 – August 2018) with a budget of 242,617.00 euros, which is funded 100% by the European Union. As part of this project the HHIC is invited to coordinate 7 partners in 5 different countries (Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Finland and Spain).
The kick- off meeting and learning activity were held on the premises of the Institute between the 17th to 21st of October 2016 with participants from Tampere University of Applied Sciences (Finland), the Technological Educational Institute of Crete, the Cyprus Hotel Association, the Mediterranean Management Centre (Cyprus) and Gruppo4 (Italy).
The aim of the project is to develop and systematize the cooperation between hospitality / tourism businesses, tertiary educational institutions offering programmes of study in hospitality and tourism and their students. This will be achieved through a modern and efficient employer programme especially designed for hospitality and tourism. The implementation of the programme will be facilitated through an electronic platform which will be designed specifically for this purpose. The resulting benefits will be multiple for all those involved, hospitality / tourism enterprises, tertiary educational institutions offering programmes in hospitality and tourism and their students.
